Prologue

January Decembers had started to prove to be somewhat of an issue from the first time I had laid my eyes on her. I had watched her slaughter her way through both the rounds, lurking in the corners, gazing at her.

She had medium-length wavy hair that she had left open. She was seventeen, but for her age, she was too smart. I would know, for a part of me saw myself in her, and I liked to convince myself that that was what had gotten me intrigued in the first place and not the fact that I was a pedophile who found her drop-dead gorgeous.

I had watched her from afar, during the quiz, being the perfectly exceptional creep that I was. The first time I had read of her, it had been in a local magazine, but she'd caught my attention. Enough to make me look her up and find her interesting list of achievements.

She was exceptionally gifted, from the looks of it, someone with a brilliant brain and a knack for biology.

But there was another thing that she was: too young, and I had no way to approach her.

From afar, she looked like this bright little ball of...blue. Amidst the yellow decorations, she shone bright like a neo blue disco light, her smiles and giggles making her partner Daniel, and a blonde guy who was her best friend, from what I had deduced from social media, smile.

She was too fragile, and any tactless contact would send her running away.

So, I decided to wait, give her a few months, and then, enter her life and steal her smile forever.

Blue.

I had found my favorite color.
